Building from the success of their June D-Day anniversary commemoration, the S.C. Military History Museum coordinated a Battle of the Bulge event. Here veterans of that battle are front row honorees. Governor Mc Master is being introduced as the key note speaker. You'll notice the Polish defensive position is guarding the left flank of the dignitaries.

During the original Battle of the Bulge the Polish 1st Armd Div went mainly on the defensive in their assigned sector, as the U.S. and Allies pushed back against and closed the German salient. We therefore chose to consolidate our equipment into a tight defensive perimeter.

The armory drill floor allowed a large display space. Visitor turn out was great and we can't thank the event staff enough for the hard work they put into the pre-coordination for this event.

A side view of the early war CMP C60 truck. Notice the sand channels displayed beneath the rear wheels. These were kept with the truck to negotiate difficult ground in the Libyan desert. In the rear bed, a pre-war Bofors 37mm A-tk gun has been mounted enportee which was very common in North Africa. Miroslaw from Wheels of Liberation Museum hauled this truck and gun several hours down from PA just for this display.

Focusing on 1941 allowed us to bring out some of the earlier equipment such as the 1928 TMSG, Lewis gun and Boys A-tk rifle. The venerable Vickers MMG soldiered on in all theaters until the mid 60s however.
